For the past 10 years, we have been raising CKSA Registered Katahdin Hair Sheep as an addition to our grain farming operation.  Our flock started out with a mere 23 ewe lambs and is now at 130 ewes that are pasture grazed in the summer and fed in the winter due to the range of climatic conditions we experience here.

Over the years, we have continually strived to improve our flock by culling hard and using only the best genetics.  We not only visually and physically inspect our animals to get the best, but we have also enrolled the entire flock in the GenOvis flock improvement program.

Each lamb is weighed at birth, at 50 days and at 100days and the information submitted to GenOvis.  The program then provides us with valuable statistical information on the ewe flock, the sires we use and the lambs that are born in order to be used in our selection for breeding stock.

All of this hard work has paid off as Mish Katahdins is now home to the Canadian Western Agribition 2004 Reserve Grand Champion Ram and Ewe, the 2005 Grand Champion Ewe, the 2006 Grand Champion Ram and Ewe and most recently the 2007 Grand Champion Ram and Ewe.  These animals can be viewed by visiting the section titled Show History.

Feel free to contact us or stop by our stalls during the 2008 Canadian Western Agribition in Regina, Saskatchewan!!

Please check back often as we try to update our pictures regularly.
